GLP-1 Supplement Evidence Matrix
What the research actually shows for 14 supplements people take on Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and other GLP-1 medications, graded by the quality of the evidence, with every claim cited.
Start here: no supplement has been tested in a randomized trial of people taking a GLP-1 medication. Almost everything below comes from other groups, mainly people losing weight without medication or older adults doing strength training. Each card says which.
The basics matter more than any pill: enough total protein, strength training, fiber, and fluids. In GLP-1 trials, roughly a quarter of the weight lost was lean mass (Karakasis 2025; Look 2025), and lean mass includes water and organs, not only muscle.
- Worth considering Reasonable for many people, for a specific purpose
- Situational Only for a specific problem or group
- Skip Not supported for the claims made
- High: several meta-analyses of randomized trials agree
- Moderate: meta-analyses, but in a different population or with mixed results
- Low: few or small trials, or industry-run
- Very low: one small trial, or lab and animal studies only
